Control arm
A control arm, also known as an A-arm (or control link in the railway industry), links the vehicle chassis and suspension hub that carries the wheel. Control arms are a vital component of a vehicle's suspension system, allowing tyres to move in line with the vehicle's body. They are made up of three main parts: bushing, body and ball joint. The control arm body connects to the vehicle frame via the bushings (usually rubber bushings) and connects to the wheel side of the vehicle suspension with a ball joint.
Most vehicles use either one or two control arms per wheel, on both the front and rear suspension. Many front-wheel drive vehicles only use a lower control arm, while trucks and SUVs often have both an upper and lower control arm. A control arm connects the wheel hub and steering knuckle to the frame of the vehicle.

Control arm ball joint
The control arm ball joint is a steel ball enclosed in a steel socket that allows the spindle and front wheel to rotate left and right and allow the wheels to move up and down following the roads surface.

Ball joints consist of a ball and socket similar to the hip joint of the human body. Tie rod ball joint
A tie rod ball joint is connected to the top and bottom of the spindle, while the tie rod end connects to the spindle and controls its pivot which allows vehicle to be steered.
Tie rod ball joints and tie rods have nothing to do with each other, yet everything to do with each other. As a part of the suspension system, the ball joint supports the weight of the vehicle and allows the steering to turn the car left or right and up and down. The tie rod ball joint and suspension system can perform that function independently of the steering system and tie rod ends. However, the tie rod needs the ball joint to support the weight of the vehicle and at the same time, allow the front wheels the ability to pivot left and right.

Link rod
Link rods (or stabiliser links or anti-roll bar links or drop links) connect the left and right hand suspension components to either end of the anti-roll bar. The anti-roll bar only comes into play if the suspension on one side of the car moves but the other side does not.
